I have so many things to tell you.
But first, can we take a moment to appreciate that it is May?! I LOVE MAY. If I have seasonal depression in February, it is balanced by whatever happens to me in May and June, which is… seasonal bliss?
Okay. I’ve been working on something for this newsletter for weeeeeeks, and I can finally tell you about it! Here’s a video explaining what’s about to happen here at Between Two Things...
If you’re new here and need more context for the Away Club, here are some of the thoughts I’ve had about attention, smartphones, automation, and influence over the past few years at BTT:
Annnnd there’s one more big piece of news, which is that tomorrow I’m headed to GREECE for 12 days. Actual Greece!!
We’ve been planning this epic trip for many months for our kids because they are obsessed with Percy Jackson and Greek mythology. I think they might be disappointed that Dionysus isn’t, like, waiting for us at the airport. But they’ll get to see the Acropolis and Mt. Olympus (even if Zeus won’t be sitting on top of it with a thunderbolt in his hand).
If you want to get emails about the trip while I’m gone, you have to sign up for the Dispatches section of the newsletter. I have no idea if I’ll send 10 emails or none, so that will be a surprise for us both! Here’s how to get those emails. (Go to Settings!)
Someone said my last post was “bleak” (it was), so I figured I’d better tell you about some fun things. So Greece, and then our Away Club Challenge. Are we having fun yet?!
I also got to meet Kevin Wilson last week, who wrote Nothing to See Here, which is a book I love. He was among the most charming individuals I’ve ever met. And his new book is out! (I’m halfway through.)
Thanks for being here. More soon!
Excited to join the Away Club and embark on the 10-day challenge!
100 % agree about Kevin Wilson's charm and kindness. Seems like a genuinely good human. Appreciate you all bringing him into Greenville! I didn't get a photo with him -- but he made my newsletter/essay this week, as well. :-)
