It takes me a few days each time you post to get to the point where I can cross off the "LJ" that I write on my to-do list over and over until I finally find the right pocket of time to read what you write. I love your writing voice so much. You are helping me become a better person. Please keep letting us into the smart, funny, and kind person you are.
I suspect that it’s easier for the American public to just pick between two categories than it is to think about the complexities of the issues and create alternatives. And even if we had the capacity to think and create, how would we be heard over the shouting?
I was so moved by this post, I clipped the last several paragraphs to keep in my writing journal as a reminder that 1) life is not binary, 2) I have a choice, I chose today and every day of my life to get better and better at "taking care of one another in all the personal, nuanced, messy ways humans actually require." And, when I "make a new thing," I can "displace an old one." Thank you!
I laughed, I cried, I swore. I want the whole world to read this and I'll start by sharing it to notes.
You're the best. I almost sent this to you for Porch Light but then realized it was only for the Americans. ;)
Don't let that stop you in the future. I was thinking as I read it that it would be a good fit! The third way!
I love to read your posts! You have such a talent that I’m glad you share with us.

Always thoughtful. Always funny. Always full of words I want to start using on a regular basis but forget to. :)

Yes, 100%. I say: pick between two categories. But stop shouting! ;)

Thank YOU! And thanks for telling me that.
