I think about this a lot. I have written something for BTT that I never posted. I remember teaching Denise Levertov, and the general critical consensus was that her poetry was good until she started writing about the Vietnam War. And then it was ruined by activism (or, put another way, opinion). Which... yeah. That's valid. But also... it was the Vietnam War. And who else can speak out, if not a poet? Such a fine line between a poem and a sermon.
